The South African Coal Ash (SACAA) was formed in 1987 and has been appointed by the Department of Enviromental Affairs to manage the Ash Phakisa Initiatives.

Our Services

SACAA has played an important role in establishing a Coal Combustion Product (CCP) industry in South Africa by providing a forum for the exchange of scientific and technical information on ash utilisation.

Advocacy

SACAA is the industry association voice on ash related matters by influencing key-decision makers, policies and strategies in consultation with and on behalf of our members.

Research

Compiling a research database of all research work and influencing new developmental work amongst the universities, colleges and industry, including the facilitation and commercialisation of the work into products and commodities.

In liaison with government and industry will provide strategies, policies, processes and events to ensure a healthy environmental behavior when dealing with ash.

Provides regular relevant ash related communication to our members and broader role players to enhance awareness. Also facilitate events and conferences where necessary.

Member Services

Member Services

Ash related support/mentorship is provided to all paid up members as well as at least 4 technical talks annually. A comprehensive membership database is also part of the service.

Training

Training

Training capability will be established in future to cater for different certification topics. This is a new development and is aimed at improving the skills and processes.

We are associated to most of the world Ash Associations and have had representation at World Ash Conferences including the presenting of papers, training courses and poster stands.
